Subject: Boot Magic not right (error) |
Comment: Either I did not do BootMagic right, of I am missing something. When I start it boots to either one, but I have to go to the operating system then partition Magic then click boot magic to switch, then it sees both o/s, I thought that when I start the computer it would give me the choice before I go to one of the operating system. When I put Partition Magic bootable #1 disk it says AN EXTENTED MEMORY MANAGER IS ALREADY INSTALLED (ERROR) when checking around, I don't think I have w98se bootable so I think thats what I am missing??? it says to sign off partition magic, go to config.bat program in the blmagic.pq directory and I guess fix it, any ideal how you can tell me how to do this. Thanks Sue

Reply: (edit)Watch those copyright laws. Are you using the demo version with a "crack" or are you using a "paid for" version?

Reply: (edit)I think the problem is that 98 and Me aren't really meant to be dual booted because they are so similar. This article says something about that: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q289283 There's a free program here that is supposed to help with that: http://tweakhomepc.virtualave.net/dualboot/dualwins.html If I find any other info I'll post back, but you might have to settle for the setup you have now. At least you can get both to boot up.

Reply: (edit)Actually I borrowed it from the guy next door, I am sure he bought it. I installed it read every thing I could (I do not understand any of this anyway) Printed out what I could, where I goofed is I guess I should have made this BootMagic before I partitioned and installed w98se, but I did it after, I can still access both one at a time but w98se does not say bootable, only if I put in the bootable and rescue disks, I don't know I just know its wrong.

Reply: (edit)hello once you had the boot manager set up you needed to make the 98 partion active or un hidden with partion magic so it can than be a bootable o/s wk2000 dose not have to be on and active partion to run. windoz 95-98-m.e and xp do. if at any time you dont want to use 98 any more but dont want to uninstall it you can just make its partion inactive.and than you can remove boot manager and not have to worrie about it comeing up.and you can change it back at any time. have a nice day OT Forum
