I just bought a new intel d850emv2 motherboard, a new 2.53ghz procssor, and a new case(with power supply) and put it together with my old hard drive, old graphic card(geforce 4 ti4200), old sound card( creative sound blaster live 5.1) and old 4 memory cards( total of 640mb rdram). But after i put it together, and started the computer up. The message boot failure: system halted appears. Please help me out.

hello the hard drive have the old o/s on it? if your going to use a hard drive with the old o/s on it (win95-98-m.e only) befor removeing hard drive and shutting off computer for the last time you need to goto start,run type regdit,goto hke loacal machine right click on enum key choose delete. than shut computer off and remove the hard drive for install in anther computer or new system, this will make windoz look for allnew hardware and install new drivers. if you cant do this you must format and reinstall hard drive in new computer. you might allso try rebooting with bootdisk and at the a:sys c: click enter reboot when it says system transferd.

there is one way you might be able to get it to load... can you get to safe mode? if you can, go to the device manager and remove everything. once everything is removed, reboot and let it redetect. but... as was stated before.. in the future.. del. the enum key.. good luck
