Does anyone know the Bomid # for a 5008US Presario by Compaq just so I can have it on hand.
I recently used fdisk and format to repartition and erase my hard drive, but just as a backup as I do have 2 ghosts of original config. would like to keep bomid # on hand.
The bomid is the # u use in the program supplied on the restore cds to place the identifier file on the hard drive so your restore disks will work.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have your #, but I did the same thing as you I Imaged it to cd the whole drive and c by itself and d by itself, and then my hard drive crashed so don't even know if the image will work on this hard drive but doesn't matter I don't want it. Hope someone can find it for you, except you know I don't think you need it (if you have the restore disks (2) because if your hard drive were to crash like mine they tell you how to install it to factory so you just need the disks (if ya have them). Sue

hello
the ghost copys are all you need if you want oridgenal configuration back at least to where you copyed it at
have a nice day

Guys, I feel so stupid. If I want the bomid, all I need do is restore the old image.
I am on a new image right now, the way I like my system, C, D, E, F. G, H & I being cdrom and cdr.
When u r tired, u can't think and I've been going nonstop.
I love my system the way I wanted and have it configured now, just wanted to for the knowledge in dealing with so many Compaqs.
I wouldn't go back to the recovery cds if my life depended on it. There is quite a bit o difference in an hour and a half to run recovery cds + program reinstall and configure time and 15 minutes for the ghost image to load and u r done.
Thanks. I have the post of how to do it, pull it off the original image either in explorer or restore image and go that route.
Have a great day everyone.
