Blue screen with no messages. I start and ME begins just like normal. However, Blue Screen appears with just the cursor (no error box as with the blue screen of death) with no access to my desktop. I even heard someone go on line from my IM so it's like everything started up but I can't see it because it's all blue. Anyone ever heard of this and how to get it back? I can't c prompt or anything. I hate to reinstall and lose things because it seems like ME is there.

Can you enter the safe mode? Have you checked your ram modules to make sure they are seated properly?

If you could run "scandisk" in the SAFE MODE, that may prove helpful to solve the problem. Providing you don't have any means of communicating with your computer by means of mouse or prompts, you might try the following: Completely shut down your computer and wait for at least 2 minutes. Next, restart your computer as you normally would and at the point whereas your computer seems to be working the hardest LITERALLY pull your computer cord FROM THE "WALL SOCKET". Then wait for 2 minutes and again restart your computer and hope that "scandisk" will appear and run of it's own accord. Note: At the point whereas you pull the plug from the wall socket, you are intentionally trying force an error upon your computer in hopes that AFTER you restart your "computer" - it will recognize an error thus run "scandisk" of it's own accord. You may have to repeat these steps a couple times or more. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've utilized this method on my computer a number of times with success. Before the readers here of this site get all bent out of shape, this method IS mentioned in the A+ Certification computer book - 3rd edition (By Michael Meyers) as a potential of solving certain problems.

When I get to safe mode I just have a gray screen with Safe Mode in each corner. No ability to do anything. Is there anything I can check in setup? I don't know what you mean by ram modules.

What "capt"(response #2) is referring to is your "ram modules" in which it's common that they are located on your motherboard of which the "motherboard" is the largest board INSIDE your computer. You may go to the following site to see what a "ram module" looks like: http://home.pacbell.net/dbk4297/memory_what_kind.html "capt" in essence is telling you to make sure that your ram modules are properly plugged in/seated ALL THE WAY into socket. If you still can't determine ram modules, just make sure that anything that resembles a ram module is plugged in/seated all the way into socket.(of course you have to take your cover off of computer to do this)

Whereas stated in my posting #4, I should have referred to "capt's" response as #1 (not #2) I apologize for this error.
