Subject: Big TINY ME problems...Please help!
OS: ME
CPU/Ram: 32
Model/Manufacturer: TINY
Comment:
When i turn on my sons pc the ME screen flashes up and immediately disappears leaving the Windows Millenium Edition Startup Menu giving 4 options...Normal,Logged,Safe and Step-by-step.
In Every startup mode it ends with a blue screen which says 'While initializing the device IFSMGR, the Microsoft Installable file System Manager cannot find the helper driver. Please ensure IFSHLP.SYS has been installed. System Halted.'
At this point the keyboard is frozen and i can only turn the pc off.
The two file which seem to be missing are;
C:\WINDOWS\DISPLAY.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS
I've inserted a boot disk but cannot get it to run. Any ideas anybody?... Please?

"Unfortunately my restart disk does not auto run at startup"

I'm not sure what that means exactly - - if you're referring to a bootdisk, if one doesn't work, make another. In order to boot from a floppy, that option must be enabled in the BIOS and set the floppy drive as the first boot device

Considering ME has no native DOS mode, a working bootdisk is indispensable

Saying that XP is the most stable MS OS is like saying that asparagus is the most articulate vegetable
