Hi,
I can afford maybe 30$ on getting a really stable internet cleaner (All index.dat files inc)
I know about the excellent freebie,
But whats best if i want to spend some money.? I'm
not trying to hide anything from the powers that be, but i view my PC as an on-line diary, its private.
Thanks Guys, Col.
P.S. Mr Blaine survived !! Next stunt "Tower Bridge" London.

One of the reasons i use delindex is because its not a huge program that needs to be installed. Even in the early days it was easy to use and its only 14k on my machine. It automates the manual cleanup without all the fluff. In my opinion it doesnt make any sense to install a 1mb+ program to remove 1mb of clutter.

I use delindex, listzapper and regcleaner. All free ware that works well for me. Ive seen posts about other registry cleaners and cleanup utilities but im comfortable with what i have.

delindex 14k-saves me 20 minutes if you count the dos prompt deletion of index.dat's/

Listzapper 500k-Allows me to clear all recent lists in seconds compared to the 20+ minutes of digggin thru the registry.

regcleaner-I admit i dont know what this thing is doing half the time. I choose do them all then select all and remove everything. Not sure if im missing something or if another registry cleaner finds more but ive been using regcleaner for more than 2 years deleting everything it tells me to and ive never had a problem.

Im sure something exists that does all of this but im not willing to pay for it or install yet another program that might potentially cause conflicts somewhere else. If you find something that does it all let us know.

SMUOD, could you please check the link you posted for regclean. It takes me to a site that's not in English, and what it does have in English, is page cannot be displayed. I'd like to download and try the regclean.
Thanks!

The link i gave is to regcleaner.exe not regclean. These two similarly named products are different.

Before using any of these products view the read me file and use at your own risk.

Just my little input.

If you want secure deletion of files then Eraser

from http://www.tolvanen.com/eraser/

is one of simplest and best there is, plus it is free. It does everything that Clean Disk Security does, which is another one I like but costs.

Erase everthing you want while in Windows then boot into DOS and use the Dos Wiper supplied to erase swap file, and *.dats etc.

Most of those other expensive programs that claim to do everything like cleaning out the registry Mru's etc, are just not worth the money.

ListZapper as mentioned by ShutMeUpOrDown is another very good plus free program. You just unzip it where you want and run. It has some preset MRU's, but the best feature is the ADD LISTS. Press this button and it will bring up all MRU lists within regisry that it can recognise. Go through them one by one though as some are not file MRU's but sytem keys for programs, Zap them and you lose settings etc.

If you do Zap something you should not have, ListZapper has a restore option as it backs up the deleted keys to the ListZapper Key in the registry.

With Eraser, ListZapper, Regclean and jv16 PowerTools I think you will have a nice clean system plus it is all free.
