Programs were written under Windows 3.1, IBM DOS 5.0 and Basica. Must continue to run them under Windows Me. How???

I'm not sure what the problem is. You're describing DOS programs that run in a DOS window. If BASICA is like any other BASIC I've known, it will run just fine in a DOS window. Click on START -> PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> DOS-PROMPT and you will get a DOS window. From here, you can navigate to the BASICA directory and execute the environment. I suggest going to full screen mode while you're at it. Do this by holding the ALT key and pressing the ENTER key. DOS programs will run much better and nearly unrestricted in full screen mode. You should be able to run your programs in the BASICA environment without any problems. If these programs are already compiled as standalone executables, then just simply navigate to where they are in Windows and double click them. If they fail, that's OK. What's important is that this process causes windows to create a short-cut icon for them. Right click on this icon and select properties. Go through and check FULL SCREEN mode, and activate CLOSE ON EXIT. Save these settings and try running the executable again. Hopefully it works. If not, then the program is trying to access services that are in use by windows such as printer services or comport services. These can conflict if you have parallel port devices other than a printer such as zip drives, scanners or are using the comport that is assigned to a modem by windows.
Good luck.
