Yeah its an app that scans the web for deals and stuff specially suited for you, but it claims that it searches the web for updated drivers

If you have an HP computer, could it refer to backweb agent? If so, take a look at this HP article. http://www.hp.com/cposupport/personal_computing/support_doc/bph05170.html#P1_58

On my computer, it had an entry in Add/Remove Programs, so it was easy to remove. It's a piece of spyware junk and you won't miss it.

I have it on mine, and disabled it. I don't know that I'll ever use it, but decided to keep it, just turn it off. It is an HP phone home program that causes what seems to me more conflicts than the updates ever solve. You can go to start/programs/HP tools/updates from HP. Click on that, and you'll get a box on the right side of your screen. At the bottom of this screen, there will be in small writing something about turning off the automatic updates feature. Click this and it will disable it. I put the icon it made on my desktop to re-enable updates in My Documents, in case i ever wanted to enable them. Doubtful. Or you can get rid of it in add/remove programs. I'm not an expert, so hope this helps. I see you posting help a lot, so know you know your way around windows and can figure this one out.

FYI, I removed HP back web agent some weeks ago and never re-installed with no problem. However, reveiwing these replies, I made a search for backweb and encountered the following: BW - A delay application HP Coach - A windows script file that Norton anti-virus did not like when I opened it. Patch - A Ms-Dos batch file. Wonder what is going on here, and does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Geezer

I just removed my backweb. It kept firing up and booting me out of other programs I was running at the time. Interesting side effect: I don't seem to have the long list of Windows Screen savers I had before removing the program. Any thoughts?
