Hello me again,
now the next thing I would like to do is back up ME onto CD as I do not have a full ME - (it was installed already on my computer) this is incase I have to reformat at any time, honest!
I have NTi CD maker - a free trial version but when I go into the registry style menu I have no idea which files to drag over for copying..... Do I do the whole Windows File or just parts of it?Cheers.

That's not actually necessary. By default Windows copies itself to C:\Windows\Options\Install folder along with all the cabinet files. If you ever needed to reinstall it, all you would need to do is to boot to a Windows Startup disk (you can make one of those in Add/Remove Programs/Windows Setup tab), reboot and at the A: prompt, type C: and hit Enter, then type "CD WINDOWS" (without quotes) and it Enter. Then at the Windows prompt, type "CD OPTIONS" (without quotes) and hit Enter. Then "CD INSTALL" (without quotes) and hit Enter. Then type "setup" (without quotes) and hit Enter.

Worm, I believe she is wanting to create an install CD in case she needs to format C:\ or has to replace the hard drive.
The folder Worm mentioned is the floder you would need to copy, however I beleive there are other files you might need to make it work.UH OH!! I recently re-installed ME using my Dell re-installation CD, which I presumed was a full install, but in researching your request, I find that I no longer have anything in my Windows/Options folder. Hmmmmmmm, if this is there answer to preventing bootlegging, I don't think I like it! Well, now I can better understand some of the problems others are having. LOL However, ME did install fine and is working much better than before, and I have saved all the updates and installs, so I should be ok in the future????????

Of course you will also need the CD key to reinstall.
Using Regedit goto -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProductKey

Your computer should have came with a set of recovery disks or the recovery files stored on the hardrive somewhere that would allow you to reinstall windows. If it did not you should contact the computer company and have them correct the error.

hello
you might want to check out norton ghost from makeing a drive image copy of your drive.on my nero cd burner its has a program for backing up windows on cd so does adaptec burning programs.ive not used them because ive got a full install and oem recovery cd s . so the above options ive not tryed.

Norton Ghost is great. You can copy entire drive over to new drive, swap drives and it is as if you never stopped.
Angie did you get the CD autorun fixed? Well here is the post for it anyway.
I copied these from other posts. I was looking for the registry entries mainly. Try these, and for future reference, if a couple days go by and no one is responding anymore, please repost your problem. It is not that interest in your problem fades, just kind of a rolling forum, if you know what I mean. there are so many sometimes we don't get around to rechecking old posts.tweakui has a cd autorun entry that has fixed it for me before.under paranoia tab.
