My IBM computer is allways connected to my phone line through an adaptor, when some-one rings my phone and the computer is shut down, it turns itself on. Is this something to do with Windows ME. My Compac with win98 does not do this.

With my old IBM hit F2 before Win Loads.
In the Bio's turn off modem auto-detect.

Go into your BIOS and disable "Wake on Modem".(or something similar)

You thought you did but "modem auto-detect" and "Wake on Modem" are different.
