I've owned my compaq pasario 5000 for awhile and it's been fine, untill recently while I was chatting to a few friends, it suddenly shutted down on it's own, sometimes it shuts down and re-starts as if someone is pushing the on and off button over and over. Sometimes it turns on and lets me works for about a minute but then it auto shuts down once again. When it starts to shut down, the arrow has a time sandbar thing by it. When I hit CRT.ALT.DEL, I See " cmdninst" at the bottom of the other files. Does anyone know what is wrong with my computer? Should I seek professional help ?

There may be a problem with your processor heat sink fan. check it.

Your power supply is going out. It needs to be replaced. It is a standard ATX.

There may be a problem with you Motherboard damage or Memory dirty.
Please unplug your memory for the first step, and then cleaning your pin memory with eraser.
if finishing step one, please plug again your memory at your motherboard.
