Im having trouble with the audio on my system. Whether its mp3 or a Cd the audio plays faster then its supposed to. As a result it sounds like the chipmunks. I have an AC97 Driver for Intel 82801BA/BAm controller. I have tried to update it by trying to find a new driver for it, but I have had no luck. I have also tried "Dxdiag" to adjust the hardware sound acceleration level and that has not worked either. I have also gone to Intel to update the driver for my motherboard (INTEL D815EEA2)but intel does'nt offer support or updates for it anymore. I bought my computer used and its a clone so its imposible for me to get help from the manufacturer (HIQ Computers). Any help would be much appreciated.

Your problem is that the wrong drivers have been installed. Update the drivers and the sound will be ok.
Go to www.driversguide.com

I have tried all three drivers at driverguide.com for the AC97 Driver for Intel 82801BA/BAm controller and still no luck, audio is still playing too fast. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried going into Device Manager and under Sound... selecting the AC'97 device and Removing it, then rebooting and let Windows ME select a driver?
You might try going into the boards BIOS CMOS Setup and disabling the AC'97 sound device. Then install a different sound card.

I have tried going into device Manager to remove the Ac'97 device and then letting Windows install the driver... but that did'nt work either. I've also used device manager before installing the updated driver from Driverguide.com. And nope, still the audio is playing to fast. Going into the boards Bios Cmos Setup I havent tried. Im searching online for some info on how to do this. If you know of a place I can get this info it would be much appreciated.

I recall having a similar problem a while back (before I made the hesitant step to XP) from my fading memory I think what fixed it in the end was a patch on Windows Update site.
Women and PC's are very similar… I’ve been ‘dabbling’ for years and I still don’t understand them..
