First ATI support sucks!!! That said here is my problem. Purchased TV wonder VE video capture for my dell computer. I install the card, boot up, when windows is about to open I get a blue screen error, then a cmdninst caused error in user.exe. I remove the card from computer, and boot up, everything is fine! Now what the heck is going on? Please help!

I've had the same problem... What you have to do is start the comp. Put the card in, then install it. DON'T RESTART!!! Then get updated drivers... That's all you need. Then you can restart.

Let me make sure I understand you right. I am a little slow :-) start the computer up, and while it is running install the card into the PCI slot, then install the driver from the cd?

I have the TV WONDER ,however mine is the U.S.B. edition , and so far (keep my fingers crossed) it works great. I also have an ATI video card PCI version (no AGP slot:-( ) Because I have both these ATI products installed on my system ,updating my driver is like a major operation , Iam still using the originial driver for the graphics card off the installation CD. ATI did send me instructions for updating the driver and as soon as I become a computer engineer I will attempt it (just kidding) ! The instructions they sent me would make your head spin. Delete these files, edit the registry here etc, etc, Iam afraid that updating will leave me stuck in your situation,ATI drivers suck .Just to give you an idea ,ATI told me dont install the MMC(Multi Media Center) from both products ,they wount work well together, so I installed the MMC for the TV Wonder only ,and installed ATI DVD player only off the video card CD ,as ATI instructed ! Well that locked out my ability to watch TV ,via the TV Wonder. I had to delete the DVD player to get back my TV veiwing abilities .I had a copy of WinDVD 2000 by InterVideo, and I was able to watch DVD's and my TV Wonder worked .Their own products wont work together ,yet another Co. product does. That should give you an idea of ATI's problems with the software and drivers for their products .You would think they would take the time to make sure their own products are compatable together !
Good Luck ,Nick

Well sounds like I take this bad boy back to where I got it. I am running the ATI Rage Pro 128 driver for my display. I think what has happened is what you are telling me. ATI tech support has finally told me to try it in another computer to see if it is the TV Wonder, after me already telling them that I put the original card (earlier TV wonder) back in and it did the same thing! Something changed as soon as I put the new card in, but I too am not a computer engineer to know what! I have disabled all devices and tried it, and the same thing happens. The cmdninst command has to do with hardware coflicts (as I understand it), but when all hardware except necessary are diabled, and still does it.....UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH. And to top it off I have my wife breathing down my neck wondering when I am going to get the video from the digital video camera on VCD!! haha Merry Christmas to all!!!
