Hi, I just upgraded my system and I have an Iwill KA266-R mobo with 512 Megs of PC2100 DDR Ram with heatsinks on them. My 1.33 Ghz Athlon has a Thermaltake Volcano II heatsink/fan combo. I know Globalwin makes better coolers but they make poor clamps! I've had one before on my previous PIII 800 proc and the stupid clamp broke.....this one on the VII is real nice....anyway...what is a good temp for an Athlon proc at 1.33 Ghz. It's not O/C at all yet...and my cpu temp usually runs between 110F (idle) and up to about 125F or so when playing a game. I used Arctic Silver thermal grease on it and my system temp oveall stays at about 95F. Is that a pretty good temp for an Athlon? I have an Enermax 520 watt PSU and an 80mm fan on top of that and then I have a PCI/ISA slot fan and a little fan above the cpu as well and the VII on it. My PII 800 temp ran about 96 to 98F (idle) and when gaming went to about 112F or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my first Athlon system that I have built....oh one more thing I have an IBMGXP 61 Gig and a Quantum 20 Gig...the IBM gets a little warm but not too hot to touch..but that's just something else to generate heat. Thanx in advance!

The upper temperature of the Athlon 1.333GHZ processor is 95 C. or 203 F. This is from AMD's website. My CPU on my Athlon 1000MHz AXIA FSB 266 runs around 35 C normal idle and working peaks around 45 C / 113F. 55C/131F is not too high. Athlon's normally run a bit warm.
I put a OCZ Gladiator HS on mine, which is Overclocked to 1.333. It is all copper. Go to www.cluboverclockers.com where there is a review there on it and several Heat Sinks. VERY intersting site, with links to several suppliers of all kinds of memory, heat sinks, etc.
http://www.overclockershideout.com/ is where I got the OCZ Gladiator, a really remarkable heat sink considering it sells for only $29.99, and has one of the best review for clips in the business. At the www.cluboverclockers.com site they have many reviews of things like this and shims.
But I would say you are not pushing the temperatures for your CPU, yet.
Hope this helps!

I have news for you, if your CPU is running at 200F+ its not long for this world bro, yes it will run, but not for long, I dont care what website it comes from....I have a AMD 1.2, that runs from 90-100F, I have been building computers for a while, and I HATE Thermaltake, they will not fit on ABIT Motherboards, and I have used cheapo 5 buck coolers that run cooler then they do.
