First of all, can you tell us what model of board and graphics card you have? Do you have the driver disk to your motherboard? You may want to download the updated ME drivers for your board (If available) from your board makers website. Is it an AGP graphics adapter? You may want to make sure that you have the correct version for your board loaded. Windows ME may not have the correct driver version for your board. You could also load your setup defaults in bios before you install Windows. By the way, which AMD K-6 do you have? 166MHZ would run pretty slow (150MHZ is the minimum, 233MHZ recommended requirement}. Good luck man.

thanks for replys-i had already tried 4 in 1 drivers @via .still no good. my processsor is a 400 hz AMD- graphics card is an on-board 3D AGP VGA .The main board is a VT8501,Yes i have drivers for board ,but they were the cause of the problems(the screen locking up) The 4 in 1 drivers made the system better but it was very unstable with vast qtys of re starts req'd.
