ihave aol and brennen hi speed cable (use to be att cable) anyway my computer and cable bill are paid by an employer. employer- att and brennen all say that as long as i dont give my password out they cannot get into my computer or e mail etc. no one has ever had my password- yet i recieved an e mail that had my employers real name on it. it was sent to me and i have never e mailed my employers real name at any time. another words only aol or brennen cable could have had that account information to know this info. can any one tell me how i can track this to know if its aol or brennen cable. so far aol says that they are not responsible aol just tells me to change passwords. the problem is that they dont seem to get is i never gave my password to employer or anyone- so any password is useless. any info on this would help , thanks (to clarify the e mail i got--it was addressed to my e mail address but with my employers actual name on the subject line)

The are viruses, Trojans, keyloggers and other bugs that can harvest your passwords and other details and send them to advertisers and criminals. This makes online banking unsafe.

Try a free online virus scan from....

and also try the spyware (& key logger) finding prog SPYBOT from...
http://patrick.kolla.de/spybotsd.html

If you don't have an anti-virus program, you can get a good free one AVG from...
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

You should also use a firewall. This is a program that allows you to grant or deny Internet access to all the programs on your PC. If a piece of spyware (disguised as a program) tries to access the net, a firewall will tell you and ask if you want to allow it. If you don't have one, you can get a free one, ZONE ALARM from...
www.zonelabs.com

Lastly (for now) Win ME has a facility to allow you to operate your PC via another PC anywhere in the world. A crook can use this facility to harvest details from your PC. The program (built into Win ME) is UPNP (Universal Plug 'N' Play). I have turned off this facility for this very reason, see my post.....

If you find you do have a virus, make a note of it's name and look it up on the net to see what damage it may have done to your PC.
It will be easier to fix.....

What was in the email? Does your employer have a common name like "joe smith"?
