Which is better anti virus protection? Macafee offered by aol or norton anti virus by symantec. If you think norton which one for my computer it is a dell.

Norton is great, has caught two trojans for me "on the way in". I still use the 2001 version, fully subscribed and updated.
I recently uninstalled McAfee from my daughter's new XP Dell computer (won it for being a great student!) and performance improved immediately. I installed AVG free edition on hers and it did not impact performance at all.
I also use BOClean (real time anti-trojan) on both pcs. It works differently than a file scanner, it stops trojans when they unpack or attempt to "phone home" (what trojans do). It has never had to spring into action yet, but it has a great reputation and the tech support is unbeatable, imo. BOClean catches what slips by file scanners, as malicious technology advances, file scanners become less effective.
I startup with 96% free resources with both Norton auto-protect and BOClean running at startup.
From what I have read, Norton 2004 is an excellent product, less buggy than 2003 and more resource efficient.
