another scan disk problem

HELP! I keep getting the restart error message when trying to run a scan disk, even when I try to do so in the safe mode. I've turned off my screensaver & wallpaper, and also did a ctrl-alt-del and left only the explorer & systray open, and it STILL won't work. Could it possibly be Kazaa running something I don't know about? That is the only program that I have added recently. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

KaZaa is spyware unless you use KaZaa Lite which is also a little risky. I would use SpyBot S&D to get it off your system. Uninstall by hand first.
Run a good Registry Cleaner too such as RegSeeker and just be careful.
Otherwise run scandisk from a bootdisk and do some intensive cleaning and tuning.
