I just recently bought a new dell computer and it came with the Altec Lansing ADA885. Since i don't have much room on my desk, i placed the 2 back speakers on top of the 2 front speakers. Since the sound blaster live value doesn't support 5.1 speakers, i bought an x-gamer 5.1. I put the mode to dolby digital and placed my ear on the back speakers. I noticed that the sound's coming from the back speakers are softer than the sounds coming from the front speakers. However, when i put the mode to stereox2, all of the speakers are equally as loud. Is this suppose to happen when you put the mode to dolby digital?

That sounds correct. Remember, the back speakers are suppposed to be playing sound that is behind you so depending on what it is you are playing that sound may be low or non existant. when you say stereox2, you are saying to play it equally on all speakers. Why bother with four speakers though if you have them on top of each other. You have defeated the entire purpose.
