I reinstalled windows and have a repeated problem. All my restore points that I or the computer create are gone the next day.I have plenty of room on my drive and it seems that the restore folder is getting bigger.I use Fixit utilities. Also missing is systray from the close program dialog box but computer is working OK otherwise. Any ideas out there?

Fixit utilities may be your problem with systray.
Restore not working could be several things. Have you installed the system restore patch from microsoft?

If you have Zone Alarm, the updated one keeps the Restore from functioning right or gets rid of the restore points, zone alarm will not answer our emails about this problem, so I just switched to Sygate and I like it better, more detailed and still free, So if you have zone alarm uninstall it you can go to their web site for instructions and go to Sygate, if you don't have zone alarm then get the update and make sure you turn it on in control panel and check msconfig and see if it is running, and by then I am sure someone else will come up with something to check.

Have you reinstalled the Restore Patch since reinstalling Windows ME?
Anytime you do an over the top install, you wipe out all updates. You have to reinstall them.
If you are using msconfig to limit your startup group, you may see in there the problem with systray. Make sure it has a check in it.

Windows Update, click tools at top of screen and choose Windows Update, click product update and read the instructions it will tell you all the security and system updates you need, make sure your virus protection is off, I also turn off my firewall just as a precaution and then you should not have a problem http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/24159.htmlroblem also after you do that read this
