Comment: I tried 5 times from 2 locations to download and install AIM software.The first two were from aol website www.aol.com/aim: the rest were from ZDnet.com I have WinME. The error on the first two messages appeared when trying to INSTALL download. "An i/0 error occurred while installing a file.This is normally caused by a bad installation media or a corrupt installation file. Abort/retry: I retried it said "corrupt." ZDNet. download fine.Installation-not installable. Message here reads: "Could not initialize installation. Could not extract Wise 0132.dll to C:Windows/Temp/GL C80A3.TMP' : Then it says, "CRC does not match." I phoned AOL who told me to go to aol.com/aim/faq to look at possible Q&As for trouble-shooting..I have done so. I see nothing except possibility of a corrupt file. Would someone here help me further..I am not able to get an aol disk in our area which contains this within the software..but I have ordered one from AOL..IT will take a few weeks.. Any help in the interim, I'd appreciate.. *Forgot... with initial two attempts from AOL website, I did have to sign up for username etc..and then get confirmation in my email. Did so.. Thank you.

Reply: (edit)did you turn off your antivirus program when installing AIM?... try to close all the programs and also applications that are running in the background (do ctraltdel)...also (in general) remove all temp files and do scandisc and defrag before you install a new program i installed AIM on two windows ME computers ( that will not help to install it on yours, but it is showing just a predcendence that it can be done) Regards Miro

Reply: (edit)Miroslav: It happens that on my 8th attempt..the download and installation worked..I could have done all you said except the scandisk and defrag..I'm brand new...but I thank you for the suggestions of closing everything down.. It was only just a moment ago, the installation was completed..then I came here to post results..and now I see your kind respnse..thank you!!
