Comment:
This comes from an earlier post. Everything I've tried hasn't worked for some problem. I don't have to do this but I simply want to be able to so I can say to my friends "I can do something that you dan't".
If I want to place a link in this message and display my own text instead of the web address or e-mail address, how would I do it?
Thanks

It was explained pretty well earlier, but I will take a shot at it. Use this post to test your HTML skills.
Say you want to put a link in your message to www.google.com and you want to call the link: The best search engine in the world.
Do this:
Open up a new browser window.
Go to http://www.google.com.
Highlight the address that is showing in the "Address" bar at the top of the browser window by clicking anywhere in the Address field.
Now... right click in the same area and choose Copy from the menu.Come back to this post.
Type in the comments field:
[a href="
and substitute a Less Than sign(shift + comma) for the "[".
We cannot show you this exact symbol because when you type it here this page thinks that you want to add an HTML tag.
After the quote " on the line that you have typed so far... right click and choose paste from the menu.
This should paste http://www.google.com/ into the comments section.
There are no spaces.
After what you pasted close the quote and the link by typing:
"]
With ] being the Greater than sign(shift + period .).
After the greater than sign type in what you want the link to be called... in this instance I called it The best search engine in the world.
The last set of things to type to make this a link is:
[/a]
With [ being a Less Than sign and ] being a greater than sign. You will have something that looks like this:
[a href="http://www.google.com"]The best search engine in the world[/a]
in your text. It will only become a link when you reply and then confirm your post.
Speaking of google... I did a search for you.
Now... you try.

Yep :) it works! also if your ever interested in knowing how something is done within a webpage.. choose view from the explorer menu then source. scroll thru the text in search of something such as the name of the link "trys it again" in which i just posted you can also select search from the notepad menu in which you are searching the websites html code and type in "trys it again" and it will pop down to it. you may however find yourself searching with find next if the phrase is used more than once within the webpage. This can be used to find images, sound files, background color codes, anything you see on the web has a tag similar to this. the whole internet is one gigantic hardrive and these tags are the virtual shortcuts.
Use this iframe tag if you want to impress your peers:)Good Luck!

If you download the various tools MS has for IE, such as web development accessories, etc, you can highlight the area you want, and choose View Partial Source, so you don't have to scroll through tons of HTML.
