I have an SiS AG315T 64 mb video card, and I'd like to switch it to 4x mode, and it looks like it's done by changing a jumper on the physical card itself. The manual is no help. It says that with pins 3 and 4, open=AGP 2x mode, short=AGP 4x mode. But it doesn't explain what heck short is! Maybe I'm just slow or something...but I can't figure out what they mean by short. The default came with the jumper over the 3 and 4 pins. I already changed the settings in BIOS to run at 4x, but it's still running at 2x. I also just updated my drivers for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

short = shorted = closed = jumpered = jumper on
short - electrical term meaning to connect together two circuits. As opposed to the circuits being open or not connected.
With the jumper on|closed|shorted, pins 3 to 4, then the 4x mode is enabled. If the BIOS is set up for 4x mode, then 4x mode on the system board is enabled. If the drivers loaded support 4x mode, then they will turn on 4x mode, else the highest mode they support and all the hardware supports.
I do not know if it requires a program (such as a game) to request that 2x or 4x mode be turned on or used or if the drivers turn on the highest mode that it supports and is supported by both the system board and AGP card.
The card comes with that option, to allow only 2x mode by removing the jumper, because many older system boards do not support 4x mode and it causes problems on them.

thanks for answering that question...so if my card and board support 4x, and I have it enabled, is there any other reason why it wouldn't be working?
