still I am getting the random reboot issue. I posted my problem before but can't find the link to in =/.

I've checked memory, upgraded to 430W power supply, etc. Now, I've gotten a replacement board from ABIT..and still it freezes and reboots or just reboots.

Is it my CPU? Should I just buy a new one? I've done everything but the CPU...Let me know what you guys think...

Here was my previous post.....now w/ the new motherboard my cpu temp is consistently 113 farenheit or so

Hello,

This started about 2 months or so ago and I initially read about these as the potential sources of the problem and have been troubleshooting as such in this order:

1) CPU overheating - I ended up getting an additional fan and that did not help.

2) Memory - Swapped out my RAM for a good known stick of RAM and the system still rebooted.

3) Power Supply - So after ruling out memory I thought it might be the power supply so I bought an Enermax 430W supply to replace my 300W. Installed it today and since the system has rebooted 5 times! Once while I was writing this up! Argh! What else can I look at? The motherboard.

I have had the system for 1 yr+ and it was stable until the past couple months. No hardware changes whatsoever.

Here are the stats on the computer

ABIT KT7-RAID motherboard
AMD Athlon 1000 MHZ
384 MB RAM
Hercules Guillemot Prophet Pro GTS III
SB Live Value card

Please help!! Via HWM reports this:

Currently CPU Current Temperature is: 89 Farenheit (Its usually around low 80s but since adding the Enermax its gone up a bit b/c I think some of the hot air is blowing on it)

System Current Temperature is: 82 Farenheit

What kind of heat sync do you have on it? Assuming you haven't fried the poor CPU, I would try putting on a good heat sync.

Just a thought.

Not an extra large heatsink but one that covers the entire socket a athlon.

Plus its used that heatsink for a year plus w/ a lot less thermal compound in between. When I reinstalled the CPU I put a lot more of it onto the heatsink and noticed it was a lot hotter

hello
after replaceing mobo did you use a reformated hard drive? or just old drive with old system?
if you did use old did you use the mobo
s cd to up date drivers?
if you are useing old boards drives your bus speeds may be off and other important things.
and may be causeing some of your heat and crashing.
and ive seen posted in other forums about to much paste on heat sink causeing more heat.
have a nice day

Hey there, thanks for the reply.

The replacement board I got had the latest BIOS.

Hmm, does anyone know if 113 farenheit is to hot for an athlon? If anything before switching motherboards, I was thinking my CPU temp reading was off b/c it sounded too low...

it is pretty hot, but it's not that hot... My bios says the temp is 130°F, but sisoft sandra says 95°F (35°C) so I don't know which one to believe...
