Well do I, really ? I read it's full of spyware so why would I download it ? What's it for anyway ? Shall I save 8.3 meg of HDD space. Insightful comments more than welcome.

If you install it is according to if your computer habits demand it. If you need the reader, the program you are about to use or view will tell you as such. Then you decide if you want to install it. It will kick in on it's own and you really don't have to bring it up under normal circumstances. I assume you are only talking about the free reader version as you would already know if you needed the full Adobe Software pack as this is for more advanced applications and users.
I see no evidence that it has spyware in it. The following sites define spyware programs and see for yourself if you see it there:
http://www.tom-cat.com/spybase/spylist.html
http://www.spychecker.com/
http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm
http://virgolamobile.50megs.com/spyware/spyware.htm

Adobe Acrobat Reader (and I seriously doubt Adobe Acrobat)does not conatin spyware.
The reader is used to read and search PDF files. It doesn't do much more than that, but it's still highly useful.
If you have a complaint with Acrobat, try the user to user support at adobe support.
Adobe makes some very expensive and quality products. I've never seen them engage in any spyware tactics to make more money.

First:
Newgrl is completely correct. Adobe's Acrobat Reader does not contain spyware.
They do make some very high quality products, which I use every day and highly recommend, and although as a corporation, they have been real b---tards about some things, I can't imagine them resorting to spyware.
Second:"8.3mb" is 8.3 milli-bits, which I suppose would be 8.3 millionths of a bit. This is certainly not enough to store anything!
"8.3MB", on the other hand, can be quite a lot!
> much less than one picture or screen saver is taking upWell, if the picture or screen saver takes up 14MB, I'd imagine so! If the picture or screensaver is only taking up 30KB, then absolutely not! What's the limit on screen saver file sizes? 800MB might not be enough, if the screen saver is larger.
A quick check of the file sizes of the screen savers on the system I'm using right now reveals 13 screen savers. The average size of these files is 97KB, but that's only because there's one HUGE one (at a whopping 410KB!) is bucking the curve. Most of them are between 28KB and 47KB. I could store about EIGHTY of these screen savers and not take up more than 8.3MB of storage.
My computer's boot partition is about 8MB! Actually, my Linux boot and root partitions are all about 8MB as well.
I could store about 570 programs from my Korg MS2000 synthesizer in less than that, not to mention the programs from every other synth and drum machine I own or the console automation data for every song I've ever mixed.
The database file containing the names, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, birthdays, and notes about all the people I keep up with (about ninety-something) fits easily onto a Pro-DOS-formatted 400KB floppy with PLENTY of room to spare.
Then again, 8.3MB isn't enough for a half a second of 24-bit digital audio at 96KHz a second.
It's all pretty relative.
By the way, can you tell I'm bored?

hello
i your running an old 486 with a 500mb hard drive id worrie about space lol.
but since your here you mostlikely have some thing modern.
i fined adobe acrobat reader vaery use full
