What exactly happens when you click "Add/Remove..."? Are there errors messages?

Usually when you uninstall a program, it leaves some sort of debre, after you uninstall something, do a search thru Windows Explorer for that same item and there will be a folder with that name, delete it reboot then check and should be deleted.

Actually, there is usualy only debree left over when you un-install it through the "Add/Remove" feature. For future reference: use the programs own un-install kit and you will be better off! If the program didn't come iwth an uninstaller, then I do recommend using the "Add/Remove" program feature.

The "Add/Remove Programs" feature is not a standalone uninstaller; it executes the uninstaller for the program that you select.

Certain installers, when you install programs with them, add keys to the registry that reference their uninstaller. These keys make the program's name show up in the Add/Remove list.

sometimes u gotta manually uninstall it.

C:\Windows\Program Files\

that's usually the place where programs are located.

Usually, when you uninstall something, since it has to run a program to uninstall it, it cannot remove every file associated with the program. The uninstaller program will be using some files to run, and it cannot delete them.

So, it will usually add something to the registry so that when the computer is rebooted it will remove the left over files.

Some programs, however, when uninstalled, leave some files behind (Norton Antivirus 2000 for example). Once the uninstaller is finished, a "Details..." button appears which lists registry keys and files which were not deleted. You can delete these manually.

roger,

WARNING! Back up the Registry before making any changes.

I guess to add to the posts.
Use regedit, go to key HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

This key contains a key for all applications that can be uninstalled. Find the key with the name of the program you deleted and delete it. If the name of the keys doesn't reveal the program. Click on each one and look at the right window for DisplayName under Name. Under Data should be what is displayed in the Add/Remove Programs list.
As they say, just my two cents worth ;-)

Good Luck
