I have windowsME ..Druron 800 AGP-V7700 gts and 300 mg memory................Problem when I add new hardware, machine seeks to update hardware data base..........THEN NOTHING...shows engaged but not working. booooooooo hoooooooooo!!

What hardware are you trying to add? Do you have the drivers for it? Would be nice to know

If you are using Norton System Works... specifically Norton System Doctor, please have a look at this Microsoft Knowledgebase article: Computer Stops Responding (Hangs) During Setup, Installing Updates, or Adding New Hardware (Q281967)
