Hi,
every time I start my computer my Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI adapter spends a lot of time searching for my Teac x8x8x24 Burner. Is there a way to make it not search for the burner over and over again every time I start the computer.
10x in Advance.

i have the same scsi card with a yamaha writer. Every time it boots it has to detect things attached to it. There's no way around it. If i was buying another writer now i'd get a burnproof ide.

I have ME, and an AHA2940-UW Dual and internal Yamaha CRW4416S and Sony CRX140S CDRWs, 2 internal HD and 1 external HD. At startup, the SCSI card recognizes all HD and CDRW in just a few seconds without any problems.
I had a similar problem with both the Yamaha and the Sony when first installed, and both went back to the factory service place for repairs. They came back and were recognized immediately and consistently.
Suggest checking termination jumpers on all the internal drives and the terminators on any external drives. Then check the internal connectors for solid fit. Finally, after your computer has been running at full speed, check the temp on the case of the CRDWs. I found that if they get too hot to touch, they won't behave well on the SCSI chain.
