my adaware started giving me an error each time when it updates. I went to redownload it and it said it requires windows 2000. Is there an install still for ME?

I'm still using their 1.05 version on 98 SE. I notice every time I update the definition file I get prompted to upgrade to a newer version of adaware. It's likely that at some point you have done the upgrade.
If you find an earlier version from the above links just make sure you don't do the upgrade. I can email you 1.05 if you can't find it elsewhere. I did just download their newest definition file so you can still do the updates even with older adaware versions.

"the above post still says it requires windows 2000.....not ME like I asked"
The new version of Ad-Aware doesn't support WinME. The site I provided lists numerous other spyware removers...find one that works with ME.

I thought so but hadn't tried it. It looks like it's their 'adaware 2007' that isn't compatible.

If you are using Adaware SE Personal, I found a note on a Lavasoft Forum which said it was being discontinued from 31 Dec 2007. I have been unable to update definitions from that date.
