My OS is WinME and I use I.E. ver6. I use AOL to go online but jump out to I.E. when I browse the web. When I am browsing in I.E. and I attempt to download a pdf file my PC will not open acrobat reader 5.0. that is on my PC. Instead I get a bunch of characters and symbols. I have to copy the link and paste it in AOL which then opens up the pdf file in acrobat reader without any problem. Why isn't I.E. opening up acrobat reader like it always use to in the past? Please advice, thanks!

Matthew,

Let me start out saying I don't use I.E. ver.6 or AOL.
Something you might check is C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS
In this folder are there files like:

NPDocBox.dll
nppdf32.dll

I'm guessing it may have something to do with your default browser.
Have you tried to remove acrobat and reinstall it.

Set your Adobe to open web links in another window.

That will take care of the problem.
