Accessing the Web

Sometimes when I start my computer and go on the web, (I have DSL) I get a message on the bottom of the web browser (IE), "detecting proxy settings" and nothing happens. The only way to resolve this is to reboot my computer and then I am able to go on the web. I have a program running called web accelerator that I have had for about a year with no problems until now. Is this the problem or is it something else.

Open up internet explorer. Go to tools, internet options. Look under the connections tab. Uncheck all the boxes for detect proxy settings. I'm not sure if it's under connections tab seeing is how it's been so long since I worked in windows ME. If it's not under connection tab it's under one of the other tabs.
