A drive won't read boot-up disk!

I've tried to recover my computer since it's been messing up and it won't work. I'll put in the disk and the "A" drive won't read it. It'll start making noise like it's starting to read it, but then it'll stop and do nothing. All the screen says is "Unknown flash" something.
