98SE programs off restore cd

i have a compaq computer with the system restore cd's, and i want to install window's Me, i was wondering if there is any way to get my cd burning software off those cd's.

am i the only one here that thinks moiety is just a plain moron??i guess if your a tech idiot like him anything will run bad. me has been running fine here. he is just to stupid to figure his system problems and blames it on win me.

You should be able to get the software off of the CD. Most system restore CD's have actual install files on the CD itself. You should explore the CD, and try to find the setup.exe file located in the directory for the CD burning software. If you can't find it, there are several free aps on the web that should work just as well and maybe better. Just takes a little looking.

Ok Compaq restores are a bit tricky. They don't name the files as normal what you have to do is find the file on the disk with all of the bitmaps on it the bitmaps are numbered find the bitmap that is for the software you want and copy the number of the bitmap then go to the folder that corresponds to that number and the software is in that folder. Now the problem is it is compressed and I have forgotten how to decompress it but the information is on the cd..... Best bet do a full restore with the Compaq software and then use the ME upgrade....
