Specs: Windows ME, HP

I cannot enable any 3D screen savers. All other screen savers work, but when I try to select screen savers such as 3D Flower Box, 3D Flying Objects, 3D Maze, 3D Pipes, or 3D Text, the screen freezes and I must restart. My DirectX is updated to the latest version, and all tests pass. I've also tried installing and uninstalling the screensavers, with no luck. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Those screensavers require the Open Graphics Library, which should already have been installed with Windows.

Possibly your video card does not support OpenGL?

That can't be, I've owned this computer for 3 years now, and used one of the 3D screen savers all the time. This just started happening last month.

Ok - just a suggestion (and I should have said driver, not video card).

What's the status of OpenGL on your machine?

In Win9x (& I think, ME), software OpenGL is provided by glu32.dll etc

Start>click run>type "dxdiag" exactly and without the quotation marks>okay>run the tests on each tab of the directX diagnostic utility and see if everything works okay and if any problems are found.

You can also adjust graphics acceleration on one of the tabs of the utility, full acceleration may be required to use those screen savers?

You can also find out what version of directX you are using and version of graphics drivers on the first tab. There is also information about your graphics card there.

Details you provide may enhance our ability to help.
