i cannot get my pc to recognize new chip 256mb ram pc 133 is there a setting i need to change or something i ihave a gateway they said it will work but seing how i didnt buy the chip fromm them they cannot tell me what to do """pretty crappy ha""

Rob-
Did you pull out any RAM or add to..? I own a gateway myself and I do alot of upgrades on gateways as well. If your computer originally had pc100 you may have to take the RAM stick back and exchange it for a pc100. It should work, but I have taken this same exact stick out of one gateway that worked fine and put it in the same exact model of another and it would not recoginze it. the PC100 RAM is faster than the 133 and was desinged to run flawlesly with a frontside BUS of 60 to 90Mhz but, if you " ADD " RAM to existing PC100 RAM you should add PC100.
Hope that helps some

You don't necessarily need a pc100 stick...a 133 would just run at 100.Shouldn't be problem,but then again,i've never dealt with a gateway in that manner.That said,I'll say this;
Rob,do yourself a big favor.Take back the stick you bought,and go to
Their built-in feature at the above link will match up exactly what you want/need,you'll get it in a couple of days,and with a lifetime warranty.Their service and return/exchange policies are great,as well.
