Ok all, here we go ... I have Partition Magic and I have added a second HD.What I have is this......... Drive 1(20 GB) has Win ME and all my "stuff". Drive 2(40 GB) had been partitioned into 2 segments. The first is a primary partition of 20 GB.The second is a 20 GB logical partition, encased in a extended partition. This set up as directed by partition magic for another o/s and storage. What I want to do is load Win XP on the FIRST partition of the SECOND HD and leave the other partition for backup.I have read how to dual boot for multiple O/S on a lone drive but nowhere for TWO drives. If I confused you, your not alone cuz so am I!! Really tho any ideas??A good site to visit?? Has anyone done this or know what I need to do to install the second O/S(I think I can boot to it from the BIOS by changing the sequence)but how to get it on the correct drive. Thanks all jimi_l

The idea for multible o/s's on two drives on the same system is quite intriging. You might try this site for total new approach. http://www.connectix.com/products/vpc4w.html

Would it make it safer if you use the 40Gb for the 2 systems and keep the backup on the seperate 20Gb?

jimi, if im correct you want both ME and XP installed. ME on the primary 20Gig Drive and XP on the secondary new drive + extended partitions on each of them for data storage. Using partition magic you have already setup the drives. You should be able to choose where XP is isntalled during setup. your drives something like C and d for the 20 gig and e and f for the new guy. have it install on E which would be the primary partition on the secondary drive. i only played with XP pro rc-1 and rc-2. i dual booted but on a single drive and as you stated you already know about this. give it a shot if setup sees all four partitions you should be good to go. I like phineas's idea about dual booting on one drive and have the slave be one big fat partition for data storage. Depending on data -vs- applications if your data includes mp3's video images etc. i would make the larger drive for data splitting up the 20gig 50-50 for the operating systems. Would make it much easier becuase you can pull the slave/partition up the primary drive install me on the first partition and xp on the second. installing xp second will give you the boot option then add the slave keep it FAT so you can see it from both OS'S.
