Comment:

I am running windows Me. I have a AMD Athlon 1.4, K7AMA mainboard.

I have two error problems:
1) I have been doing a lot of photo scanning and using various programs to work on them. Initially I was able to use mspaint but now when I try to open it is says 'mspaint has caused an error in MFC.DLL'?

2) the second refers to the restore system program. When I go to start it I get a box that comes up stating:
error has occured in the script of this page
Line: 14
Char: 9
error: object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: res://rstrui.exe/start.htm
do you want to continue running scripts on this page? yes/no
It doesn't matter if I say yes or no to this it still does nothing?

Help!!!

To get system restore back try this:

Go to start>>run
Type this in (just copy and paste):
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Restore\rstrui.exe /makefirstrestorepoint

Click ok.

That should start the system restore engine back up and reregister the correct dll and htm files. You will not have any restore points to go back to at this point, but it should start working again.

For the mspaint error... let's see if the error occurs in safe mode first.
To boot into safe mode:
Reboot.
After the POST(the memory check and the *beep*) start tapping on the F8 key over and over again.
You should get a boot menu.
Choose #3 safe mode.

Try to open mspaint there. Does it open without error?

If it does we can troubleshoot. If it doesn't, let me know and maybe we can extract a new copy of mfc.dll from DOS to get it working again.

Pleas try safe mode first.
