Delindex was corrected (3/27) to keep Win98 users from having Media Player deleted. (c:\progra~1\window~2 referered to different directories in Win98 & WinME.) While I was at it, I also added lines to delete the contents of Applog, which can get quite large. Please check out these posts for comments about applog: ME/21817 and 95/108115
Yahoo! Changed its policy about its briefcase feature, rendering it practically useless. From the policy change notice, I got the impression that although the “general public” would no longer have access, that people with Yahoo IDs would. Not so. The briefcase does have a feature that allows the “owner” to just check off the files in the briefcase and email them to up to 10 people at a time. ShutMeUpOrDown:) does have the latest files at his site. That’s the best way to get them. ftp://ftp.burzurq.com/delindex/index.html
As an alternative, you can email me at delindex@yahoo.com, and I’d send them to you. Please note that I don’t check that address too frequently, so there may be a delay in my response.
Here’s what else is new:
* I’m working on a DEL-WHY file that has some rationale for deleting some of the files and folders. Then maybe I can take some notes out of DELINDEX itself and answer a whole lot of questions before they’re asked.
* I already reworked DELINDEX and reduced it from 13,770 bytes to 1,103 bytes and use it to delete files every time you start or reboot your computer. Anyone interested? BTW, do NOT use DELINDEX to do that!============================================

have a nice day

I have nothing in my Applog folder, and to my knowledge, have never had anything there. Is this a good thing? As far as I know I have no prog or batch file that removes it. As of the last 6 months i've had no problems with ME. (knock on wood)

Len, if you have nothing in your Applog folder, you probably have Task Monitor turned off. Is that the case? If so, you're one step ahead. Also, Len, see response # 8 here.

RM
I do have it turned off- thanks. In response to your question in post#8 my opinion would be "No" but Im sure you would receive a number of replies to the contrary. One would have to ask himself if it's really worth the controversy.
Regards
Len

*Yes RM, very interested, do tell more*
..And yes you would, in the majority of cases, be preaching to the converted.
And No, again for the majority, it would not be construed as whining - and NEITHER should it !
*BUT*, due to the make up of certain personalities, combined with -
a) The feigning of a deliberately obtuse attitude.
Or
b) A genuine lack of intellectual reasoning and / or a lazyiness to empathise with anothers point of view.
You are always going to be on suspect ground
with some, with such posts.Personally, I say...F$%£ EM ! :)
Speak your mind, take the flak and have a chuckle about it afterwards.
And my APPLOG folder has 13 files in it totaling 308kb and task monitor isn't on either.
Viking

If TaskMon is not on, get rid of the files in Applog.
Even if TaskMon is on, 13.2MB is really LARGE. (Not in relation to a 60GB drive, though.) If you delete the files, TaskMon will start rebuilding the file.
Thanks, Viking amd robert451--you made my case for deleting the contents of Applog.
I have a 20GB drive. I do not know for a fact, but I think regardless of whether your HD is 6 or 60 GB, the less crap on it the better.
