Hello,
I have been using ZA for three years with no problems. Suddenly, when I turn on my computer my whole system freezes. I see the ZA window come up for a few seconds but then the hour glass stays on indicating the system is busy. It stays that way & I have to restart my computer three or four times before I finally see the ZA icon down in my toolbar. I can only use my computer after I go through all of that. I uninstalled & then reinstalled the program but I am still having the same problem. Can anyone PLEASE help me? This is driving me crazy!!
By the way, I noticed this started happening after I upgraded my Quicktime player. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Thanx in advance to all who reply!

Don't know if this will help but ...
You might want to go to the ZoneAlarm web site. They have a special procedure for uninstalling their program.

Yes, and the most important thing before uninstalling ZA is to first prevent it running after boot-up. If you click around in the tray icon you should find a facility to prevent the tray icon appearing.
If all else fails type msconfig in the Run box and remove all ZA entries in Startup. Makes absolutely sure ZA is no longer running when you boot-up.
Jakes suggestion about going to the ZA website is darned good advice. The thing leaves files and registry entries all over the place after uninstalling it.

Thank you for your advice. I guess I have to do that. But after uninstalling it & reinstalling it twice I hope their way takes out all the unwanted files. However, I always allowed it to start up when I turned my computer on so I wouldn't forget to start it.

Yep, ZA's info gives a whole wadge of files and registry entries to remove after uninstalling. No idea why their uninstall (or the one in CP/Add-Remove) doesn't competely clear all this stuff.
I agree it is quite normal and proper to have it auto-start, but you must kill it off (re-boot and check) before you start your uninstall. If you don't do this you could give yourself a stack of extra problems.
You will still need to deal with the files and reg entries it leaves behind tho.
Good luck - I've done it fine, just a bit tedious tho.
