Everytime this user shutdowns her PC and tries to bring it back up the year changes from 2003 to 1988 in Windows 98. The time, day and month stay current but the year always changes to 1988. I don't get any errors on bootup for the bios or anything. Does anybody have any ideas?

G'day,
It could possibly be the RTC battery. If it is discharged then the RTC (Real Time Clock) may default back to Jan 001 1988. You could try changing the battery as a low cost solution. regards and seasons greetings , Elric
