Yahoo! sneaks in yet more spam.
(Click here to see the story at MSNBC) Excerpt:YAHOO! GRANTED ITSELF PERMISSION to spam by creating a new “marketing
preferences” page that lets users pick “yes or no” to specific categories
of marketing pitches. The problem is, Yahoo! set every users’ option to
“yes” — even if long ago, they indicated they never wanted any Yahoo!
spam.Users who don’t want marketing offers from Yahoo have 60 days to do the following: Visit the user profile preferences page at http://edit.my.yahoo.com/config/review_profile; select “Edit your marketing preferences” from within the Member Information section; and individually
change selections in a series of marketing categories from “yes” to “no.”And I thought it was bad when they discontinued "Public Access" you the Yahoo! Briefcase.

Be careful answering no because if you have your mail forward or check your mail from say outlook express it will not work. At least the last item in the selection has to be yes.

Buster,
Bear in mind Yahoo will be useless as of
April 24th (unless you want to pay for it)
for anyone forwarding or using Outlook
Express. Only web based services will
continue to be free.RM,
Good information.

Renaissance Man,
I went there thru
http://edit.my.yahoo.comand finally navigated thru it all and found the area you were talking about. And chose No to all of the boxes that they had installed already check as Yes.
Thanks for that info!
But I noticed it said it only applied to new Yahoo generated advertising, not outside companies that are absolutely BOMBING me with spam.
I wish they would let use block those. Their supposed Spam Blocking function is a Joke!
