Your PC freeze before BOOT into WINDOWS or
at after BOOT into WINDOWS ?

If before BOOT, try your Vga Card into your friends PC. If it works, I think, there's something wrong with your Motherboard. Or, try your RAM too. Sometimes, the problems not on the VGA.

If after BOOT, try to reinstalling the WINDOWS ( This is the last effort, don't try it early ).

Set your Start/../System/Display to Standard VGA. Shut down computer. Wait 30 seconds (memory power drain and drive spin down). Remove Video card. Wait five seconds (battery CMOS clear). Reinstall card (make sure card seated properly). Boot. Reinstall latest drivers.

If your Stealth 3 s540 is a AGP card, you may need to reset the jumpers. The default is 1X/2X. Try switching to 2X or 4X. User manual should be on the CD. In any case, your motherboard must support 4X APG mode ~ unless you have Intel 820 motherboard that would work at 2X AGP mode. Please read the info here.

Or you can try Diamond Stealth Technical Support Wizard and pin-point your problem here.

Best of luck

If none of the above posts solves your problem ~ heck return that crappy #%@x video card, explain to the salesperson why it won't work, and see if you can get a refund or exchange with TNT or Voodoo3 instead!!!!

Best wishes

try msconfig, general tab, advanced, disable fast shutdown. Reboot. If that doesnt' work
go to my computer (right click on it) properties, performance, grahpics, take the hardware acceleration down a notch or two.

If all that doesn't work, do the post above.

Rule of thumb: install twice, if it doesn't work, take it back.
