I've got a user who, when trying to save an Excel file gets the message, "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert the correct volume in drive A"

This occurs when the excel file was originally opened as an email attachment fron Lotus Notes. Then the file is modified and the user selects "Save As" and attempts to save the file to a floppy.

Any brilliant ideas why this happens?

I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but are you detaching the file from the email before you open it , or are you viewing it from the mail server.

Viewing from the mail server.

The user assures me that she's been doing this for months without problems. Only recently started with the error messages.

i dont know about that. but i bet if you detach the file and then save it and reatach to email you wont have this problem. There may have been a change at the server that no longer allows her to modify files throught the mail message.

This is normally caused when the floppy disk (or other types of disks for that matter) have had a name put on them. If saved to that disk and then tried with another it will ask for that named disk.
