Ok was just poking around and messed up. Updated display adapter driver. Box pops up saying this is best one. Ok I say. Wrong! How can I get it back? What I had was sis 630/730. Went to there site they have sis 630 or sis 730s. Just want to get it back to way it was. Please help. And thank you all.

Try booting to a command prompt and type scanreg/restore. Then pick a good registry backup that pre-dates your problem.

If that doesn't do it, on the 'update device driver wizard' choose 'display a list of all drivers. . .' If the driver you want isn't shown on the next screen choose 'show all hardware' to show a list of all the video drivers.

Windows will always tell you you've got the best drivers even if the ones you've installed are wrong. It assumes you've got the correct drivers already and only looks for an update to those particular drivers. So you've got to force it to install different drivers.

Sorry it took so long to post back. Problem fixed with your help. (scanreg/restore) Thank both of you very much.
