Well, I screwed up and tried to load Windows 98 SE with the boot sector virus enabled. Windows did not load and now when I try to start over and fdisk and reformat I get a write protect error. How do I start over?
Thank you

Find out what brand the hard drive is (ie Seagate, Maxtor, Western Digital) and then go to the web site for manufacturer of the hard drive and download the 'disk manager' or some other disk utility program (Maxtor calls theirs Max Blast, Western Digital calls theirs 'Data Lifeguard') In one of the diagnostic menus of these programs there should be some thing called 'zero fill' or might refer to the proper term 'low level format' You want to 'zero fill' or low level format' the drive. That will then allow you to put a new FAT32 partition on the drive, then you can do a regular format of the drive and then install Windows 98
