.wps file to .doc need converting

problem: got a .wps file need to open... i only have open office on this machine (work machine) and no micosoft word or office applications. I need a STAND ALONE program or something that will convert .wps to .doc so that i may be able to view.. (i know i can see it in regular text program but this is a resume and dont want to loose the formating)

What's it like in WordPad (might be slightly better)?

I'm surprised that Open Office cannot handle this. The file with the .wps extension was created with Microsoft Works. If you can find someone with this program they might resave it as a .doc for you. I believe that M$ Word should also be able to handle this task.
In the mean time, why not try copying the file and renaming it as [filename].doc. Maybe Open Ofiice will be able to use this?

I had the same problem with a client's files. I had to open then with MS Works and then save them as a .doc file. Then they'll work in MS Word.
