Work Offline shutting me down

IE 5.5 , 56k modem connection, dial up no problem, email no problem, IE starts with no problems, after approx 5 minutes online it switches to offline and disconnects from internet. Nothing in task scheduler, no call waiting. Why is it doing this? If I cant resolve in 24 hours its going to make a nice boat anchor.

Have you tried running the IE Repair Tool?
Start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs. Select IE 5.x and internet tools, hit add/remove button. In the dialogue that comes up, choose REPAIR IE. Follow prompts for repair.

I've twice had a similar problem and both times had to format and reinstall to fix it, but ... I would start by reinstalling your ISP software.
Summary: Please help me. My computer is shutting itself down and rebooting while screen saver is up. It started this a week ago. It doesnt even shut down properly, it has to run scan disk. Please helppppp........
