In Hotmail and Outlook Express I often am sent attachments like resumes and with about 75% of them I get the message I will post below. Now my lawyer has sent me an important document to review in a hurry and I got the same message and I would love to know WHY this is happening and what I can do to fix it. It's one thing to ask someone to resend it pasted into the body of a new email, but a 20 page document? Hmmm...let me think...um...NOT!! Can anyone help please? Here is the error message: Wordpad- This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the prgram vendor. WORDPAD caused an invalid page fault in module MSWRD832.CNV at 0167:0140f6d5. In addition to what Rimfire offered, & his (Word Reader link), the following may be of some help.
Mswrd832.cnv Error
You are trying to open a document that was created with a late version of Word.
Wordpad is not a suitable program for opening such files.

Thank you. I have been able to reinstall Wordpad but since I used some substitute programs for the day ALL my document files have been changed to Word or something different from Wordpad and they are formatted differently )lots of little boxes!). How do I get all those files back to the way they were before?

The little boxes represent charactors which wordpad cannot recognise. If you have opened and subsequentially saved your documents with a proper word processor, the only way to get them back is to open them in a program which can read the entire file. Then you can save them in another format which wordpad can recognise such as word 6.
