Word 2000-line spacing

I'm typing a paper in Word 2000...Arial, 12 pt, single line spacing...
After 5 pages, suddenly I start to get 1 1/2 line spacing between lines instead of single line spacing...My type size is still the same and my font did not change, just the line spacing...
Format command shows everything is still Arial, 12 pt and single line spaceing...so aparrently nothing got inadvertantly changed...
