hello, i have a wonderful piece of garbage with the name "COMPAQ" on it.. it is a AMDK6 233mHz with 48MB of RAM, and a 3 gig HDD. Im running windows 98 on it. Recently i got the HiMEM.sys error, and was able to repair it.. and it worked great, no problems, other than the normal everyday crashes that comes with windows.. Now, i honestly dont know why i got the himem problem last time, all i did was shut down the pc for a few days without being home. I come home, and turn on the computer that i am absolutly positive no one even looked at for 3 days, and boom, himem.sys error. Now, it happened again! I dont know what the deal is, so i was going to fix the problem again, but now the computer wont even try going past the windows start up screen. It will just NOT go past this for anything. Can someone please tell me what this POS's problem is? Thanks,
